Tuan Haji Alikamal Bin Haji Abu Hassan was born in Klang, Selangor on 4th December 1973. He obtained a Bachelor in Corporate Administration (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in year 2003 and a Diploma in Planting Industrial Management from UiTM in year 1995.
His first job experience in the plantation industry was with the Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad where he served for thirteen (13) years, from 1995 until 2008 and his last position was as the Estate Manager. He has twenty-seven (27) years of work experience in the plantation industry.
Prior to joining DSSB, he has worked with Sime Darby Plantation Berhad as the Regional General Manager, heading the operation of seventeen (17) estates and three (3) oil palm mills in Bintulu, Sarawak. He managed a total workforce of more than 4,000, ranging from executives, staff and workers. Prior to this, Sime Darby had assigned him as the Head, Upstream at Liberia, Central West Africa from March 2018 until July 2020, up to its divestment to the country’s local investors.
Haji Alikamal has the experience in managing oil palm estates in Sabah, Sarawak, Peninsular, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, and Central West Africa’s countries. He headed the Environmental, Safety and Health for the Southeast Asia region and Central West Africa from 2012 to 2017, with GMG Global Pte Ltd (Halcyon Agri Pte Ltd) based in Singapore. He is currently the Chairman of Malaysian Palm Oil Association of Sarawak and very instrumental in addressing labour shortage and has presented many papers in national and international seminars on farm mechanisation.
